News Flash

At approximately 8:53 PM, an officer with the West University Place Police Department observed a vehicle traveling southbound in the 6300 block of Buffalo Speedway with an expired Texas Temporary Buyer Tag. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle in the 3200 block of Carnegie. Upon further investigation, officers discovered the driver of the vehicle to be in possession of a large amount of marijuana. The driver (Vergie Jackson) was subsequently arrested for Possession of Marijuana.

At 12:16 AM, officers with the West University Place Police Department were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle call in the 5800 block of Academy. Upon arriving and locating the vehicle matching the description, the driver was found to be intoxicated. The driver was additionally found to be in possession of marijuana and a loaded firearm. The driver (Isreal Lee Bailey Jr.) was taken into custody and charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Felon in Possession of Firearm.

At 03:20 AM, an officer with the West University Place Police Department located a vehicle that was reported stolen traveling eastbound in the 3700 block of Bellaire. A high risk stop was conducted and the two occupants were detained without incident. After conducting an investigation, the driver was found to be in possession of a handgun and narcotics. The driver (Jeffrey Christopher Anyanwu) was arrested for Unlawful Carry of a Weapon by a Felon and the passenger (Joseph C. Hamilton) arrested for an outstanding felony warrant out of the Pearland Police Department. The stolen vehicle was recovered and information referred to the originating agency.
