2.15.23 12:32 PM | 23-0080 | Evading | An officer observed a vehicle displaying a fictitious temporary tag traveling in the 3500 block of Amherst. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle in the 3400 block of Georgetown for the violation. Upon contact with the driver, the officer could smell an odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. In an attempt to detain the driver, the officer requested the driver to exit the vehicle but he began to resist and pull away from the officer. While attempting to apprehend the driver, a passenger of the vehicle exited a side door and fled the scene causing officers to establish a perimeter. The driver of the vehicle was able to escape the stop fleeing in the vehicle, but the passenger, James Chenevert, was apprehended a short time later in the 3400 block of Tangley. The passenger was charged with evading and was transported to the West University Place Jail for booking without further incident.
