Overview
In June 2024, the City of West University Place City Council appointed nine residents to review the City's Charter and recommend changes they deemed necessary, if any. The Charter Review Committee made its final report to the Council in November 2024 with three amendments. Propositions A, B, and C allowed West U voters the opportunity to vote for or against these amendments to the City's Charter.
All three amendments were approved by the majority of voters.
Prop. A) Section 2.09: Amended the City's Charter to allow for the reduction of required regular meetings of the City Council to one regular meeting each month, based on the needs of the City, the Council may also hold a second regular meeting each month.
Prop. B) Section 2.12: Amended the City's Charter to allow for the removal of a requirement for an official newspaper, instead, providing for the use of a newspaper in general circulation within the City.
Prop. C) Section 6.02 and 6.03: Amended the City's Charter to allow for the City Council to directly appoint and manage the City Secretary.
