An officer was dispatched to the 2600 block of Arbuckle in regard to a minor accident that had already occurred. The victim said an unknown person operating a vehicle struck their vehicle and left without providing any information.

Fraud

An officer was dispatched to the 2600 block of Carolina way in regard to a fraud that had already occurred. Upon arrival, it was discovered that an unknown suspect called the victim stating a family member was in jail and needing bail money. The victim wired money to an unknown recipient, later discovering this was a scam and the family member was safe at home.

Minor in Possession of Alcohol 

An officer conducted a traffic stop in the 6400 block of Vanderbuilt. During the traffic stop, it was discovered all occupants of the vehicle were minors and were in possession of alcohol and tobacco. All parties were cited and released to their guardians.

DWI

Officers were dispatched to a welfare check in the 4200 block of Bissonnet. Upon arrival, an officer made contact with the driver inside the vehicle, and it was discovered the individual displayed signs of intoxication. The occupant (Elvin Mejia-Velasquez) was taken into custody and charged with Driving While Intoxicated. 

The individual (Elvin Mejia- Velasquez) has no previous criminal history.

Fraud

An officer was flagged down at the West University Place Police Department in regard to a fraud that had already occurred. It was discovered that an unknown suspect had called the victim stating that there was a warrant out for their arrest and that they could pay for it in Bitcoin. The victim proceeded to pay for the warrant via Bitcoin in gift cards, later discovering this was a scam.

Traffic Stop

An officer conducted a traffic stop in the 7100 block of Buffalo Speedway on a vehicle for fictitious registration. Upon contact with the driver and through investigation, it was discovered the vehicle displayed multiple VINs returning to various vehicles inconsistent with the vehicle stopped. Harris County District Attorney’s office was informed of the facts but declined to take any charges against the driver. The driver was released from the scene with citations and the vehicle was impounded pending further investigation.

An officer conducted a traffic stop in the 3100 block of W Holcombe. During the traffic stop, it was discovered the suspect was in possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

An officer was dispatched to the 6100 block of Fordham in regard to a criminal mischief incident. Upon arrival, it was discovered that an unknown suspect caused damage to the victim’s vehicle without consent.

Warrant Service 

An officer met with an outside agency to pick up a subject for outstanding municipal warrants with the West University Place Police Department. Upon arrival, the officer obtained custody of the subject who was then transferred to the West University Place Jail for booking.
