 An officer conducted a traffic stop in the 6400 block of Buffalo Speedway. Upon contact with the driver and through investigation, it was discovered the driver of the vehicle had multiple warrants from various surrounding counties. The warrants were confirmed, and the driver was taken into custody without incident.

The warrants were confirmed, and the driver was taken into custody without incident.

An officer conducted a traffic stop in the 6000 block of Buffalo Speedway. Upon contact with the driver, the officer detected an odor of marijuana emanating from or about the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle led to the discovery of drug paraphernalia.

Fraud 

An officer was dispatched to the West University Place Police Department in reference to a fraud incident that already occurred.  Upon arrival and through investigation, it was discovered that an unknown suspect had hacked the victim’s computer, gained remote access, and posed as technical support, claiming to resolve a technical issue for a fee. The victim transferred funds to the suspect to resolve the issue, only to later realize they had been defrauded.

An officer conducted a traffic stop in the 5500 block of Weslayan. Upon contact with the driver and through investigation, it was discovered the driver had an outstanding felony warrant. Subsequently, the warrant was confirmed and the driver was taken into custody without incident.

An officer conducted a traffic stop in the 6000 block of Community Dr. Upon contact and through investigation, it was discovered the driver was operating the vehicle on an expired license, failed to maintain financial responsibility, and displayed defective equipment. The driver was arrested on multiple municipal charges.

An officer was dispatched to the 6300 block of Buffalo Speedway in reference to a minor accident that had already occurred. Upon arrival, it was discovered an unknown operator of a vehicle, collided with a parked vehicle causing minor damage. The driver fled the scene failing to provide information as required by law.

An officer was dispatched to the West University Place Police Department in reference to an ID Theft that had already occurred. Upon arrival, it was discovered an unknown suspect used the victim’s personal information and attempted to open various accounts without consent.

DWI 

An officer conducted a traffic stop in the 5800 block of Buffalo Speedway. Upon contact with the driver, the officer detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from or about the vehicle. The driver displayed signs of intoxication and refused to complete a field sobriety test but consented to a breath test. The driver, Gary Staten, was subsequently arrested and charged with DWI and Unlawful Carry of a Weapon.

An officer was dispatched to the 3800 block of Browning in reference to a welfare check. Upon arrival, the officer located the individual who showed signs of being in medical distress. The individual was transported to the hospital for treatment.

An officer was dispatched to the West University Place Police Department in reference to a fraud incident that had already occurred. The victim reported mailing a check and later discovered that it had been intercepted, forged, and cashed by an unknown suspect.

ID Theft 

An officer was dispatched to the West University Place Police Department in reference to an ID theft incident. Upon arrival, it was discovered that an unknown suspect, posing as a bank representative, contacted the victim regarding potentially fraudulent activity on their account. The victim was instructed to provide personal information and wire funds to another account to prevent further fraud.  The victim complied with the instructions, only to later discover they had been defrauded.

An officer was dispatched to the 3400 block of Albans in reference to found property. Upon arrival, the officer took possession of the item for safekeeping. The owner was located, and the item was returned.

An officer conducted a traffic stop on the motorcycle in the 6000 block of Kirby Dr.  Upon contact with the driver and through investigation, it was discovered the driver was in possession of a controlled substance.  The driver, Jacob Dwyer, was charged with reckless driving and possession of a controlled substance. The driver has no previous criminal history.

The driver was taken into custody for drug paraphernalia and warrants.
