The Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) and its contractors continue to repair the sloped concrete walls along the western side of the channel, between University Boulevard and Bissonnet Street.
Crews are currently working south of the Tangley Street pedestrian bridge, and are on schedule to complete this work before winter, weather permitting.
Traffic control measures will remain in place until work is completed. Residents should exercise caution around the construction site and abide by all traffic laws.
This work is not in conjunction with the HCFCD planned improvements to the south side of the ditch between University Blvd. and Holcombe Blvd.

8/20/2025 - The Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) and its contractors are making great progress in replacing the sloped concrete walls along the western side of the channel, between University Boulevard and Bissonnet Street.
Crews are currently working south of Robinhood Street, near the pedestrian bridge, and expect to be in this area through September.
Traffic control measures will be in place and could cause delays. Residents should exercise caution around the construction site and abide by all traffic laws.

7/2/2025 - The Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) and its contractors have substantially completed maintenance work along Poor Farm Ditch, north of Sunset Blvd. Crews will return to this section at a later date to complete a storm sewer pipe connection and pave the remaining concrete panel.
Beginning on July 7, crews will move south between Sunset Blvd. and Nottingham St. This section of work is anticipated to take a minimum of four weeks, weather permitting.
Traffic control measures will be in place and could cause delays. Residents should exercise caution around the construction site and abide by all traffic laws.
This work is not in conjunction with the HCFCD planned improvements to the south side of the ditch between University Blvd. and Holcombe Blvd.

6/12/2025 - Due to inclement weather, the scheduled Poor Farm Ditch maintenance near Albans Rd. on Edloe St. has been postponed. Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) and its contractors anticipate mobilization on Monday, June 16.
As a reminder, the planned maintenance for the north section of the ditch will replace the sloped concrete walls along the west side of the channel and other miscellaneous repairs to ensure the structural integrity of the ditch.
This work is not in conjunction with the HCFCD planned improvements to the south side of the ditch between University Blvd. and Holcombe Blvd.

6/5/2025 - Beginning Monday, June 9, Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) and its contractors will begin mobilization to continue maintenance improvements along Poor Farm Ditch North, between University Blvd. and Bissonnet St. Work is anticipated to begin on Thursday, June 12, near Albans Rd., and progress south towards Georgetown St. over the coming weeks. Inclement weather could postpone work activities. This work will replace the sloped concrete walls along the west side of the channel and other misc. repairs necessary to ensure the structural integrity of Poor Farm Ditch.
To protect the Edloe Pathway, the contractor will place steel plates over sections of the walking track where equipment will be working. Additionally, HCFCD will be removing two Oak trees as well as other vegetation in the area that have compromised the existing concrete channel walls that are being replaced. The City's Arborist has evaluated the trees and approved their removal. Lastly, fence panels will be removed and replaced with temporary fencing to allow crews access to the ditch. The pathway will remain open, and residents are encouraged to walk safely and to watch for construction equipment and workers crossing.
