Beginning on Thursday, May 22, the tennis/pickleball courts at Wier Park will be closed while upgrades are made to the area. The upgrades are estimated to be completed by Saturday, May 31, weather permitting. We will notify residents when the courts have re-opened. This closure will only affect the tennis/pickleball courts, and the rest of the park will still be accessible to residents and patrons.
Based on strong community interest and careful consideration, the following updates will be implemented at the Wier Park tennis and pickleball courts:
- Addition of Two More Pickleball Courts - Wier Park will be enhanced with the addition of two new pickleball courts through restriping, bringing the total to four. Existing pickleball lines (one set per court) will be removed and replaced with new markings to accommodate the expanded layout. The tennis court lines will not be changed or impacted by the additional pickleball lines. This upgrade will help meet the growing demand for pickleball in our community.

Court signage will be posted requesting players be neighborly and considerate by using balls designed to help lessen the sound. A QR code will be available with more information.
Additionally, reservation parameters will be established to prioritize use of one tennis court (e.g., Wier East) for both pickleball courts before opening reservations on the second court (e.g., Wier West).
- Modification to the Divider Fence - To improve the playing experience for both tennis and pickleball participants, most of the divider fence between the courts will be removed. Only portions nearest the perimeter fencing will remain, forming an "L" shape at each end to help catch stray balls and enhance safety.
