4/10/25:Dear West U Tennis and Pickleball Players, and Residents,
We are writing to inform you of the recommendations put forth by the Tennis/Pickleball Committee following their review of court reservation data and survey results. Based on these results and careful consideration, we are excited to present the following proposed changes to the tennis and pickleball courts at Wier Park:
1. Addition of Two More Pickleball Courts: The committee recommends expanding the pickleball facilities at Wier by incorporating two additional courts by restriping the courts, bringing the total to four. The existing pickleball lines (one set per court) will be removed and new lines will be added to create the four courts. Striping for two tennis courts will remain the same. This expansion will help accommodate the growing demand for pickleball in our community. Please refer to the attached picture for a visual layout of the proposed court placements. Additionally, reservation parameters would be established to maximize pickleball reservations on one court before allowing reservations on the other court ( i.e. both Pickleball courts on one tennis court (ex: Wier East) must be reserved first before accepting reservations for pickleball on the second tennis court (ex: Wier West).
2. Modification to the Divider Fence: To enhance the experience for both tennis and pickleball players, the recommendation includes removing a majority of the divider fence. Only the areas closest to the perimeter fencing will remain, forming an "L" shape at each end to help catch stray balls and improve safety on the courts.
