At the May 25th City Council Meeting, the West University Place City Council adopted a new parking ordinance that prohibits businesses on Kirby Drive from using a street in a residential district of the City for employee or business parking. The City has ensured that businesses along Kirby Drive near West University Place have been properly notified and that the ordinance will go into effect on May 4, 2022.
In addition, the West University Place Police Department would like to take this opportunity to remind residents of the top 5 parking violations commonly seen in West U:
1. Parked blocking sidewalk
2. Parked blocking driveway
3. Parked within 15 feet of fire hydrant
4. Parked within 30 feet of stop sign
5. Parked over 18 inches from curb
While there is a dedicated Parking Enforcement Officer patrolling the area actively looking for violations, the goal is to increase parking compliance and for drivers to adhere to the parking regulations established by the state.
