[ARCHIVED] Severe Weather Alert

Weather Advisory

Update as of 4 P.M.: To ensure the safety of staff and residents, all City facilities and services will have a delayed start tomorrow. Facilities will open to the public starting at 10:00 a.m. Classes and programs scheduled prior to the delayed start time have been cancelled. The City encourages residents to remain weather aware and continue taking necessary precautions.

Original Alert as of 2 P.M.: Severe weather is expected this evening into tomorrow morning that could include possible hail, flash flooding, and tornadoes. The City of West University Place encourages residents to take the following precautions in preparation: 

  • Park vehicles in a garage or covered area out of the street – West U PD and FD will be marking abandoned vehicles with yellow tape to communicate with other departments that the vehicle has been cleared 
  • Bring in or secure any outdoor objects that could be a projectile or block drainage 
  • Do not place trash, recycling, or yard waste items out for collection until the storm passes 
  • Remain weather aware by keeping up with the latest forecasts
