[ARCHIVED] Huffington Park Improvements are around the Corner

Huffington Park Rendering

One of the biggest improvements to the park will be replacing the existing play structure with a new ship play system and seahorse rider in a newly expanded artificial turf area that will include shaded sections. Improvements also include removing the decomposed granite path and replacing it with a concrete sidewalk. The new path and existing sidewalk will be rubber capped to allow smooth travel for anyone walking or pushing a stroller.

Other new features include, two - Expression Swings, new fencing, a drinking fountain with a bottle filler feature and refreshing of the light poles.

The Parks and Recreation Department worked with a Citizen Group, Parks and Recreation Board and Friends of West University Parks Fund on the proposed improvements and City Council approved the concept February 22, 2021.
