West University Place Parks and Recreation will host their third annual Halloween celebration with an evening of pumpkin decorating, face painting, and costume contests. The costume contest will be for different age groups so make sure the whole family comes in the spookiest attire.
This year, everyone is in store for a special treat with the unveiling of the first Little Free Library in West U's Parks, along with book readings by special guests.

Colonial Park Little Free Library
The Little Free Library movement, which seeks to promote literacy and community through free book exchanges, is coming to West University Place. Steward and local author Chris Cander, in partnership with the city's Parks and Recreation Department, will unveil the first of a proposed six Little Free Libraries during the Full Moon Fest on October 23 at Colonial Park. Designed to look like West University Elementary School, the Colonial Park Little Free Library will be a free-standing structure where neighbors of all ages can "take a book, return a book" and help spread the love of reading.
