[ARCHIVED] Vehicle Burglary Suspect Arrested

The West University Place Police Department is proud to share that a suspect has been arrested and charged with Burglary of a Motor Vehicle following a report of a suspicious person in West University Place. 

On February 7, 2026, at approximately 10:01 p.m., officers responded to a report of a suspicious person in the 6700 block of Westchester Avenue. The individual matched the description of a possible person of interest connected to multiple vehicle burglaries that occurred over a three-day period in West University Place. 

The suspect, identified as Dawaran Carter, was riding a blue bicycle and was wearing a pink sweatshirt at the time of contact. Through investigation, officers connected the suspect to a burglary of a motor vehicle, resulting in his arrest and charge for Burglary of a Motor Vehicle. 

Since Saturday’s arrest, there have been no additional reports of vehicle burglaries in West U. 

West University Place detectives continue to actively investigate the series of incidents and are working to connect the suspect to additional reports in order to pursue further burglary charges.

Posted 2/6 3:40 p.m. - The West University Place Police Department has received numerous reports of vehicle burglaries that occurred overnight on Wednesday (02/04/2026) and Thursday (02/05/2026) throughout the community, multiple of which involved forced entry.

The suspect depicted below was captured on video and was seen traveling the area on a dark blue bicycle. If you have any information or video footage that could assist in this investigation, please contact the West University Place Police Department by calling 713-668-0330.

While West U Officers are actively patrolling day and night, your vigilance is an important part of keeping the community safe. Be sure to lock your vehicle, remove all valuables, park in well-lit areas, and activate your car alarm.
