Upon making contact with the driver, the officer detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A probable cause search led to the discovery of drugs. The officer discovered the driver (Jose Meza) had outstanding warrants which resulted in the arrest of for 4 felony warrants and a charge for a Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance. Meza was taken into custody and transported to the West U Jail for processing. The passenger of the vehicle was released.

05/06/2024 01:47 PM | 25-0292 | Theft | Officers responded to reports of suspicious activity in the 5800 block of Sewanee after a caller observed two individuals lingering around a vehicle and behaving abnormally. Upon arrival, officers located the individuals near the vehicle. Based on their behavior, both were detained. Officers observed drug paraphernalia in plain view, which led to a probable cause search of the vehicle—revealing several construction tools. While on scene, officers were alerted to a nearby vehicle burglary that had occurred just moments earlier. The victim reported that several tools had been stolen, matching the items found during the vehicle search. The tools were later confirmed to belong to the victim. Through investigation, it was determined that Dustin Myers (driver) and Jeffery Scott (passenger) had taken the items without consent. Both were arrested and charged with felony theft (3rd degree). The suspects both have previous criminal history in Harris County for the following:
