[ARCHIVED] WUPD-Tips To Prevent Auto Thefts In Our Community

AUTO THEFT ALERT

The West University Place Police Department is sharing essential information with residents to prioritize vehicle safety and prevent auto thefts in our community.  In recent months, there has been an increase in reported auto theft incidents involving trucks and SUVs, with a particular focus on the 2022 Dodge Ram. Your security is our top concern, so please take notes of these important tips:

  • Stay Vigilant: Watch for any suspicious activity near parked vehicles, especially at night. Your alertness is key.
  • Strengthen Security Measures: Install car alarm systems with motion sensors and visible deterrents like steering wheel locks. Thieves don’t like obstacles.
  • Park Securely: Choose well-lit areas or locked garages for parking. Let’s make it difficult for them.
  • Community Unity: Report any suspicious activity promptly. We’re stronger together.
  • Remove Valuables: Keep valuables out of sight or take them with you. Don’t tempt thieves.
  • Key Safety: Safeguard your keys and avoid leaving spear keys inside your vehicle. By keeping your keys secure, you can significantly reduce the risk of unauthorized access.

The West University Place Police Department emphasizes the importance of community involvement in preventing auto thefts. We kindly request residents to share this information with friends, family, and neighbors, ensuring that these prevention tips reach as many people as possible. Together, let’s prioritize safety and security in our community.
