All West University Place firefighters are cross-trained as paramedics to ensure that every firefighter will be able to perform all the latest life-saving techniques, from basic response to advanced life support.
Advanced Life Support
The West University Place Fire Department staffs an Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment and highly trained Firefighter/Paramedics.
The West University Place Fire Department strives to keep up with the latest technology in equipment, training, and capabilities in order to respond to and mitigate a wide variety of emergencies. Our fire apparatus is staffed full-time as an "ALS Engine" with dual-certified firefighter/paramedic personnel and carries much of the same equipment as the ambulance.
Properties Scheduled for Demolition
The West University Place Fire Department is constantly striving to provide additional training opportunities for our personnel to train on structures typical to the ones in our response area. Structures scheduled for demolition are potentially the best classroom for our Fire Officers to conduct training simulations and scenarios.
The West University Place Fire Department is asking property owners who may have a structure (residential or commercial) that is abandoned, vacant, or ready for demolition to allow firefighters to conduct training. If you would like to support the Fire Department in this effort, access the Property Owner Agreement and Liability Waiver (PDF).
