Council presented McLamb with the coveted WUP Star Citizen Award in recognition of his 10 years of community service as the President of Tri-Sports. McLamb served as president from 2005 until 2015. It is conservatively estimated that he dedicated over 12,000 volunteer hours leading the organizations youth sports efforts.
In attendance at the celebration were the current Tri-Sports Executive Board, many past presidents and Bob's family. In presenting the award, it was noted that McLamb had led Tri-Sports through a period of tremendous growth in both the number of youthful sports participants and in the acquisition and construction of athletic facilities. Over the course of his tenure as president, over 10,000 youthful WUP resident participated in a variety of youth sports programs and some $7M in new athletic facilities were purchased and constructed.
Gregg Thompson, following McLamb as the new Tri Sports President, said McLamb made the decision to take on the job much easier. "I’ve had the good fortune of following Bob McLamb in various youth sports leadership roles over the last 10 years. And following Bob is always the best place to be, because most of the heavy lifting has already been done and what is left for the incoming leader is usually a pretty well-oiled machine."
Congratulations to Mr. McLamb on a job well done and an honor well deserved.
