WEST U COVID-19 UPDATE – HARRIS COUNTY ISSUES STAY HOME – WORK SAFE ORDER FOR ALL OF HARRIS COUNTY INCLUDING CITIES
Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo announced a Stay Home – Work Safe order that will go into effect at midnight tonight. This order affects all cities within Harris County and will last through April 3, unless extended.
West U encourages all residents to stay home. At the time of this update, a final list of those exceptions to the Stay Home – Work Safe order were not available and once that is released by the County an update from the City will be provided.
City services will continue in police, fire, emergency medical services, streets, storm drainage, water, sewer and solid waste collection services. Other departments will be minimally staffed during this time.
A reminder that City facilities are closed to the public with the exception of the Police Department lobby. All parks and recreation facilities are closed, including neighborhood parks, tennis courts and basketball courts. The fields at Colonial Park and the Recreation Center will remain open, but social distancing of 6 feet needs is required.
