[ARCHIVED] Arbor Day Celebration and Tree City USA Designation

In conjunction with the West U Parks and Recreation Department’s Annual spring celebration, the City of West University Place will hold its Arbor Day celebration on April 13, 2019 beginning at 9 am at the Recreation Center located at 4210 Bellaire Boulevard. Residents are invited to come by the Recreation Center to meet and talk to the City’s Urban Forester about tree selection and planting diversification, adequate growth space and planting appropriate species. Complimentary trees will be available to the first 30 residents.

Arbor Day is a way to educate the community about trees and the environment. The National Arbor Day Foundation promotes local Arbor Day festivities through the Tree City USA award program. Sponsoring a community wide celebration of Arbor Day is a pre-requisite to receiving the Tree City USA designation. The City has been officially notified by the National Arbor Day Foundation that it has received the designation for 2018. This Arbor Day celebration marks the City’s 29th year of participation in the program.
