The City of West University Place is reminding residents that fireworks are illegal inside city limits.
This prohibits the manufacture, use, or sale of fireworks. In some cases even possession of fireworks can result in a fine, for instance if a person is unsafely transporting them through the city or if a minor has fireworks.
People in unincorporated parts of Harris County can purchase and use fireworks, but not near churches, hospitals, schools or daycare centers.
Fines in the the City of West U can range from $500 to $2,000 per firework.
