[ARCHIVED] Weekend Burglary in West University Place

On June 1, police officers were dispatched to the 6100 block of Kirby in reference to a burglary of a habitation that took place on May 31. The victim advised that an unknown male knocked on his front door and stated that he had been hired by his neighbor to cut their trees. He stated that he would need access to the backyard in order to inspect the trees and to explain what he was going to do. The resident and the unknown male went to the back yard. While they were in the back yard, a second male entered through the front door and saw the victim's wife. The second male stated to her that he was the first male that originally came in, and needed to look for any leaks inside the house. He looked throughout the house quickly and then left. The victim observed both males leave in a newer model red F-150. The subjects were described to be about 5’9” with a light brown skin tone. The victims discovered $200.00 missing from their home.

The West U Police Department advises residents to immediately report any suspicious persons or activity. When it is safe to do so, gather as much information as possible (description of vehicle to include make, model, color, license plate, direction of travel; person: sex, race, attire, unique characteristics, etc.).

Please use caution in allowing strangers into your home and property. Do not leave your home unattended and unsecured. If you have any information or to report a crime, please contact the West U Police Department at 713-668-0330 or 9-1-1, if it is an emergency.
