Senior citizens were well represented at the West University Place City Council meeting May 9 as the City recognized Older Citizens and Volunteer Month. At a reception held prior to the Council meeting, seniors and community volunteers involved with the Good Neighbor Team, Senior Board and the Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.) were recognized for their impact on and contributions to the community. Mayor Susan Sample issued a proclamation designating the month of recognition for both older citizens and the community volunteers.
Senior Services Manager Toby Brooks added, “Volunteers are instrumental in the success of many city programs offered to West U residents. If you are interested in learning more about volunteering, please contact Senior Services at 713.662.5896. “
