On April 17th, the city will begin its annual manhole lining maintenance starting on the southbound lane of Weslayan. Travelers should anticipate traffic disruptions during this time. Work will take approximately two (2) weeks.
The process of lining manholes involves pressure washing and installing a protective coating on the interior walls of the manholes. This is done to prevent corrosion, infiltration of groundwater, and the formation of cracks that could lead to leaks. Lining the manholes also helps to maintain the structural integrity of the manhole and prolong its lifespan.
The city began this project last year and will be an ongoing annual project until each manhole has received maintenance. This year, we will complete maintenance on over 120 manholes.
We understand that this work may cause some inconvenience and delays for residents. However, we will do our best to minimize disruptions and complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible.
