At approximately 9:33 PM, an officer with the West University Place Police Department, observed a white van traveling southbound in the 6300 block of Buffalo Speedway with a defective license plate light and a defective brake light. The vehicle was in the left lane and was also observed failing to maintain a single lane as it was drifting into the right lane. A traffic stop was conducted and after further investigation it was discovered the driver was Driving While Intoxicated. As the officer attempted to place the subject in handcuffs, the subject began to resist arrest. The subject (Ernesto Flores-Garza) was eventually taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated and Resisting Arrest.

21-P-0160EvadingAt approximately 9:41 PM, officers were dispatched to the 2600 block of Bissonnet regarding a suspect who was looking into vehicles with a flashlight. Upon arrival officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the suspect however he began to evade in a motor vehicle. The pursuit lasted approximately 7 miles. Officers lost visual of the suspect in the 3700 block of Westheimer.

The complainant stated that an unknown person(s) used their identifying information to apply for unemployment benefits. A report for identity theft was generated.

At approximately 1:10 PM, a police officer was dispatched to 3800 University, in regards to an Identity Theft, which had already occurred. The victim stated an unknown person(s) used his identifying information to file unemployment benefits with the Texas Workforce Commission. Information was gathered and a report was generated.

At 10:13 AM, an officer was dispatched to the West University Place Police Department in reference to a case of identity theft.  The victim said an unknown person(s) used her personal identifying information to apply for unemployment benefits.

At 5:19 PM, an officer was requested to the West University Place Police Department in reference to a case of identity theft.  The victim said an unknown person(s) used his personal identifying information for a fraudulent unemployment claim.

At 01:48 AM, officers with the West University Place Police Department were dispatched to the 6200 block of Kirby in reference to a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, the operator of one of the involved vehicles was found to be intoxicated and subsequently arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (Rafael Mejia-Garcia).

At 04:15 AM, an officer with the West University Place Police Department observed a vehicle traveling the wrong way, eastbound in the westbound lanes, in the 4300 block of Bellaire. A traffic stop was conducted and after further investigation, the driver (Carlos Cortes-Rojas) was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.

03/29/202121-P-0168Possession of Marijuana/Unlawful Carry of Weapon

At approximately 10:42 PM, an officer observed a vehicle traveling northbound in the 5400 block of Buffalo Speedway at a high rate of speed. However, the officer was unable to capture the speed of the suspect’s vehicle due to the positioning of the patrol vehicle. The officer then captured the suspect’s vehicle speed at 45 mph while traveling eastbound in the 3000 block of Bissonnet (35mph zone). A traffic stop was conducted in the 4500 block of Greenbriar. Upon making contact with the driver, the officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana emanating from within the vehicle and conducted a probable cause search on the vehicle. The driver (Jermaine Butler) was subsequently arrested for Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon and Possession of Marijuana.

An officer with the West University Police Department, observed a vehicle traveling southbound in the 5300 block of Buffalo Speedway with no front license plate. A traffic stop was conducted and upon further investigation, it was revealed the driver was in possession of a felony amount of Marijuana and a handgun. The driver (Brandon Anderson) was placed in custody for Possession of Marijuana 4oz-5lbs and Unlawful Carrying of Weapon.
