In 1993, the City of West University Place launched a unique alarm system, Direct Link. The alarm system offers a wide variety of benefits and provides emergency response from the West U Police, Fire, and EMS Departments. Residents have a unique advantage as the alarm system is only offered in West U. A major benefit of Direct Link is that the alarm signals/activations bypass the third party provider, sending the activations directly to the West University Place Dispatch Center. This provides the fastest emergency response time in West U. In 2020, improvements were made to the original system to better assist the alarm needs of residents. Improvements include the addition of a mobile app and video services. The mobile app is compatible with smart phones and tablets that allows residents to remotely arm/disarm their system and receive text/email notifications. With the Pro Video function and with compatible equipment, residents can monitor their own surveillance video. In addition to these great features, Direct Link has no contracts and has convenient billing on utility statements starting at $35 a month.
