City Wide Drainage Study

In 2019, the City authorized the completion of a Citywide Drainage Modeling Study that evaluated and modeled existing conditions of the City's drainage system. The results indicated that the majority of the City has limited drainage capacity. The City is now taking action to improve the storm sewer system.

PER EAST update 2/5/2021: MBCO Engineering, LLC is scheduled to perform surveying on the East side of town beginning the week of Feb. 8 (weather pending). Work will begin on the east end of University Boulevard at Kirby Drive and work west toward Buffalo Speedway. Upon completion of University Blvd, crews will start Wakeforest Avenue at Duke Street at the south end of the project and work north toward Plumb St. Work will continue on the west end of Rice and Wakeforest and head east towards Kirby Drive followed lastly at Duke and Wakeforest Avenue and head west to Buffalo Speedway.

In addition to the survey work, Geotest Engineering, Inc., will be performing geotechnical work sampling concurrently.  

Estimated Timeline: 

2/8/2021 – 4/10/2021 – Survey work by MBCO Engineering, LLC 

2/8/2021 – 2/10/2021 – Geotechnical work sampling by Geotest Engineering, Inc. 

PER WEST update 1/29/2021: The City of West University Place has initiated the preliminary engineering of the streets and drainage improvements in West U. The City has contracted with Cobb, Fendley and Associates Inc., to perform the initial phase of surveying and performing geotechnical work sampling on the west side of town. Residents may notice utility line location paint in their yards or sidewalks.  Work will begin February 3rd on Community Dr. and progress east towards Auden St. and will take approximately 3 months to complete.
