10/29/2020 | 20-P-0546 | Identity Theft | At 1:30 PM, an officer with the West University Police Department was dispatched to the PD lobby, 3800 University, in reference to an ID theft. The victim said an unknown subject used her personal identifying information to obtain unemployment benefits and open a small business loan.

10/30/2020 | 20-P-0547 | Police Information Report | At approximately 12:50 AM, an officer observed a vehicle parked at a local park, in the 6400 block of West Point, with its running lights still active. As the officer turned his patrol unit around to further investigate the vehicle, the vehicle in question backed out of the parking spot and started to drive away. As the officer attempted to follow and get closer to obtain a license plate, the vehicle started to drive fast and evade. A pursuit was initiated, but was subsequently terminated due to losing sight of the vehicle.

10/31/2020 | 20-P-0553 | Found Property | At approximately 11:37 PM, an officer discovered an abandoned bicycle and scooter in the 6200 block of Edloe. The bicycle and scooter were submitted into storage after failing to locate the owners in the immediate area.

11/01/2020 | 20-P-0554 | Evading on Foot | At 12:31 AM, an officer with the West University Place Police Department observed a black SUV and a white two door coupe run a stop sign while turning east from the 5800 block of Lake St on to the 2600 block of Tangley St. Before the officer could initiate a traffic stop on the SUV its passenger exited the vehicle and began running south in the 5800 block of Kirby. A short time later another officer conducted a traffic stop on the two door coupe in the 2600 block of Fenwood St and it’s a passenger exited the vehicle and evaded from the traffic stop on foot. The suspect who fled was unable to be located and the drivers of the vehicles were cited and released.

Upon the officer’s arrival, both vehicles involved had major damage. The driver of one of the units was unresponsive and later determined deceased by a medic.
