At approximately 12:40 PM, an officer was dispatched to the West University Place Police Department lobby to speak with a complainant via telephone in regards to a forgery. A report for forgery was generated.

Forgery At approximately 1:20 PM, an officer was dispatched to the West University Place Police Department in regard to a report of a possible forgery. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the victim over the phone regarding the incident. The victim advised that an unknown person had utilized his personal information and signature on two checks that were forged, in an attempt to steal money from his banking account. A report for forgery was generated.

At approximately 4:21 PM, a police officer was dispatched to 3800 University, in regards to a forgery, which had already occurred. The victim stated an unknown person(s) stole, modified, and cashed a personal check. Information was gathered and report was generated.

08/28/202020-P-0407Identity TheftAt 9:50 AM, an officer was dispatched to the West University Place Police Department in reference to a case of identity theft.  The victim said an unknown person(s) used his personal identifying information to apply for a small business loan.

20-P-0411Violation of Protective Order

At 5:55 PM, officers with the West University Place Police Department were dispatched to the 2900 block of Wroxton in reference to a trespasser call. Upon further investigation, the suspect was located and found to be in violation of a protective order. The suspect (David Winks) was arrested and transported without incident.

20-P-0412Burglary of Motor Vehicle

At approximately 12:14 PM, an officer was dispatched to a residence located in the 2800 block of Plumb in regard to a report of a burglary of a motor vehicle that had already occurred. Upon arrival, it was discovered that an unknown person had opened an unlocked vehicle, and had stolen a purse from inside. A report for burglary of a motor vehicle was generated.

Burglary of Motor VehicleAt approximately 12:30 PM, a police officer was dispatched to the 3400 block of Sunset, in regards to a Burglary of a Motor Vehicle, which had already occurred. The victims stated the vehicle, in which they had their belongings, was left unlocked. When they returned from their lunch break, they discovered several items were missing from inside of the vehicle. Information was gathered and a report was generated.
08/31/202020-P-0414Possession of Narcotics

At approximately 10:41 PM, an officer observed a tractor-trailer failing to display a rear registration in the 6500 block of Buffalo Speedway. A traffic stop was conducted in the 5600 block of Buffalo Speedway.  Upon making contact with the operator of the vehicle, the smell of marijuana could be smelled emanating from within the vehicle. After further investigation it was discovered the operator of the vehicle had an active warrant for felony theft and was in possession of a controlled substance.  The operator (Tori Lerell Ellis) of the vehicle was arrested without incident.

20-P-0415Identity TheftA West University Place Police Officer was dispatched to the Rutgers Place for an ID Theft complaint. It was advised that an unknown suspect used the victim’s personal information to file for Arizona unemployment. An ID Theft report was generated.
09/01/202020-P-0416Possession of Controlled Substance/Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon
At approximately 10:30 PM, an officer observed a vehicle failing to dim its high beams while traveling northbound in the 5400 block of Buffalo Speedway. A traffic stop was conducted in the 3200 block of Bissonnet. After further investigation it was discovered the operator of the vehicle was is possession of marijuana, a handgun, and a controlled substance. A warrant was drafted for the operator for possession of a controlled substance and unlawful carrying of a weapon due to being released.
09/02/202020-P-0417Identity TheftAn officer was dispatched to the West University Place Police Department, 3800 University Blvd., in regards to an ID theft that already occurred.  Upon arrival and through investigation, it was discovered an unknown suspect(s) used the victim’s personal information to open credit card accounts without consent.  
09/02/202020-P-0418ForgeryAn officer was dispatched to the police department lobby, 3800 University Blvd, for a report of a forgery.  The victim said unknown suspects took a check he wrote and changed the information before cashing it.
09/02/202020-P-0419Forgery At 1:29 PM, an officer was dispatched to the West University Place Police Department in reference to a forgery case.  The victim said an unknown person(s) stole two of her checks she mailed and deposited them.
09/02/202020-P-0420Identity TheftAt approximately 5:02 PM, an officer with the City of West University Place Police Department obtained an in station report for ID Theft.
