Tropical Storms Marco & Laura Update

WEATHER UPDATE - TROPICAL STORMS MARCO & LAURA

The City of West U is finalizing preparations for TS Marco & Laura as they approach the gulf coast.   Depending on the storm’s path and severity, residents should expect service interruptions beginning Thursday for collection of trash, recycling and yard waste, as well as, closure of recreational facilities and City offices.  Please stay tuned for future updates regarding possible services interruptions as the storms continue to develop. 

Please ensure that you have necessary supplies for a minimum of three days, click here for additional information on emergency resources.

TROPICAL STORM MARCO

Is expected to make landfall on the east coast of Louisiana Monday night and then move west towards the Texas/Louisiana boarder by Tuesday night.  Marco is expected to lessen in strength after landfall and based upon projections should pass to the north of Houston.

Marco Weather Update 1 8-24-20

TROPICAL STORM LAURA (soon to be Hurricane)

Is expected to enter the Gulf and strengthen into a Hurricane on Tuesday night.  While this is still early, landfall is projected to happen Wednesday night / Thursday morning around the Texas / Louisiana border and then move inland to the north and then move towards the northeast.  Current predictions is for Laura to be a Category 2 hurricane.
