Weekly Crime Report 07/24/2020 - 07/31/2020

DateCase  Offense  Summary 

At approximately 9:07 PM, an officer was dispatched to the 3100 block of Bissonnet in regards to a bike theft that had already occurred. An officer met with the victim who stated that an unknown person stole a bike from his driveway in the 3100 block of Bissonnet. Information was gathered and a report was generated.

Police InformationAt approximately 06:51 PM, an officer was flagged down at the West University Place Police station. The complainant advised of a subject who made threats to cause bodily injury 3800 block of Amherst. 
20-P-0359Police InformationAt approximately 08:05 PM, an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 2600 block Albans in regards to a complainant receiving inappropriate text messages. After further investigation, officers were unable to identify the sender of the messages. A report was generated.
20-P-0360Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon

At approximately 08:31 PM, an officer observed a vehicle fail to signal when changing lanes while traveling north bound in the 5700 block of Buffalo Speedway. A traffic stop was then conducted in the 3100 block of Westpark. After further investigation, the driver was found to be in possession of a green leafy substance and a handgun. The driver (Cornelius Rashod Laday) was then arrested for Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon. A report was generated.

20-P-0361TheftAt 12:24 PM, an officer was dispatched to the 2700 block of Amherst in regards to a theft that just occurred.  Upon arrival and through investigation, it was discovered three unknown suspects took items from a front yard without consent.  The suspects fled in a black sedan traveling eastbound on Amherst.

At approximately 01:53 AM, an officer observed a vehicle in the 6600 block of Sewanee traveling southbound at a high rate of speed and then ran the stop sign posted in the 6700 block of Sewanee. The officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. Vehicle refused to stop and a pursuit was initiated. Suspect(s) crashed the vehicle and evaded on foot. Suspect(s) (Lazerek Brian Austin and Donivan Labron Douglas) were located, apprehended and taken into custody for evading.

20-P-0363Identity TheftAt approximately 11:17 AM, an officer was dispatched to the West University Place Police Department, at 3800 University Blvd., in regard to a report of identity theft. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the reportee over the telephone. The reportee advised that an unknown person had utilized his personal information in order to open a credit line with Samsung, and purchased 2 cell phones through financing. A report for identity theft was generated.
