The City of West University Place wastewater system, more commonly know as sanitary sewer, is operated and maintained by the Operations Division of Public Works. All employees of this division maintain licenses to perform operations and maintenance on sanitary sewer systems. These licenses are issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) which regulates all facets of sanitary sewer operations and maintenance.
The sanitary sewer system includes a 2 million gallon per day treatment plant, 12 sanitary sewer pump stations and approximately 45 miles of sanitary sewer collection piping. The sanitary sewer system collection piping was replaced or rehabilitated as part of several contracted projects during the last 18 years. This is the only system of the infrastructure that was rehabilitated 100%. This rehabilitation was finalized with the completion of priority area 8 construction.
If you experience any problems with your sewer or notice a sewer problem around the city, please contact the Public Works Department at 713.662.5839 or contact the Police Dispatcher at 713.668.0330 after hours and on weekends.
